MRIdecoder exists for the patient sitting in a parking lot, holding a piece of paper full of Latin, trying not to panic.

Why we built this

Modern radiology reports are terse, technical documents written for referring physicians. Patients see the same document — often days or weeks before their follow-up appointment — and are left to Google each word. Google, in that emotional state, is a bad friend. MRIdecoder is a calm one.

Editorial policy

  • We explain, we do not diagnose. Our system prompt instructs the model to translate anatomical terms into 8th-grade English and to explicitly refuse a diagnosis.
  • We prefer boring accuracy over impressive prose.Simple, verifiable definitions beat confident-sounding fluff.
  • We surface uncertainty. When a term has multiple meanings we say so, and suggest a question to bring to the doctor.
  • We do not personalise medical advice. The tool has no access to your history, your imaging, or your labs. That is by design.

How we source definitions

Term definitions are drawn from widely accepted radiology references such as Radiopaedia, StatPearls, and the American College of Radiology's patient resources, then simplified. The AI model is instructed to defer to these conventions and to avoid inventing anatomy.

How we handle your report

Your pasted text or uploaded file is sent to the AI provider only for the length of one request. We do not save reports to a database, we do not run analytics on them, and we do not sell any of the data. See our privacy page for the full statement.

MRIdecoder is an independent product of Rukman Digital Ventures — a Bengaluru-based digital studio that builds patient-first, privacy-respecting health technology for India. MRIdecoder is our first public health-tech release: a free, no-signup tool designed to take the fear out of the ten minutes between receiving an MRI report and sitting down with your doctor.

Operating as a venture unit lets us keep MRIdecoder free and ad-free for patients while we explore companion products — regional language report cards, WhatsApp-delivered summaries, and specialist follow-up — under the same editorial and privacy standards. The parent studio owns the codebase, the editorial policy, and the privacy commitment; MRIdecoder is the patient-facing front of that work.
